Bodybuilding Routines are the perfect way to show of your hard earned physique so you really need to make the most of the 60 seconds or so that you have on stage.
You need to make an effort and entertain those supporters in the crowd who have been cheering hard for all atheletes during the day and night
You also have the opportunity to get your performance on dvd,
You can then show your grandkids one day.
So make sure you do a great job.
Put in the effort.
Let ME help you.
Let me teach you some basic points about putting your bodybuilding routine together.
First Thing you need to do is choose your music.
It needs to be a song that you really really love.
The music should make you feel great and only add to how amazing you feel on the day.
It doesnt really matter what type of music you pick, it can be fast or slow.
If you are not too co-ordinated you may want to have a slower tempo song.
When I am choosing a song I like to think about how it will sound when played in a stadium.
Will it grab everyones attention, will it lift people up or put them to sleep.
Its great to pick a song that you know will entertain the audience and make them sit up and take notice.
Once you have your music you need to get it cut and joined so that it is the right length of time that you will be allocated for your routine.
Make sure you have a good start to your music. Have a beat or two of music before you actually start posing. This cues you so you are ready when they start your music.
You then need to choose a starting pose.
You want it to be stable and strong and set yourself up to succeed. Starting on stage I find to be much better than walking and posing your way on.
Every movement from now till the end should be a pose of some sort.
You have your offical poses and then what I like to call your fill-in poses, the fill-in poses help you transition from one pose to another and also help you travel so that you don't look like you are stuck to one spot on the stage.
Some people when posing suffer from small poser syndrome. They haven't learnt to pose big, or their nerves get the best of them and it shows in the way they crumble down in statue.
You need to pose like you are inside a box and each movement where possible is stretching out to touch the sides or top of your box.
Take note of your head's position when posing.
Another way to show your nerves to let your head drop and it can ruin the beauty of a pose.
Make use of strong straight lines where you can.
If you are straightening your arm out then put some pressure behind it, you are meant to be posing so don't forget it!!!
Change your view to suit your pose. Some poses you can look along the direction of your pose,
other poses are great for you to make eye contact with the audience, It can add to the drama of your routine and show confidence.
Your finishing pose should be as strong as your starting pose. If you finish with a back pose then turn around and do another quick pose to acknowledge the audience and judges.
Then walk off as strong as you can, don't relax till you are out of view.
Walking on your tip toes alittle looks nice and keeps the calves and legs strong as you leave.
Remember that practice makes perfect. The more you practice the less likely you are to forget your routine. If you practice it over and over then once your music starts your brain will recall your moves.
