I have just found out that the Nabba Taranaki Champs is to be held in the beginning of March. I thought it was closer to the end of March. So now I have lost 4 weeks of preparation. I like to have around 15 weeks of preparation as my meds for the Arthritis can muck up my body. With less time up my sleeve I must admit I have been a little tempted to maybe aim for another competition. But I do like to support bodybuilding in our region. I have been promoting weight training for women in Taranaki for well over a decade. So the plan has been adjusted and I might aim for the beginning of March and see how things pan out. One of my main concerns is every Friday that I take my methatrexate I bloat up by 1-2 kg’s. The methatrexate is taken on a Friday so that you have the weekend to get over most of the sickness before you head into the working week, this of course for me is not good as the competition is on a Saturday. My last competition I travelled to Wellington and on the way down I could feel my body blowing up. I actually gave up and washed my tan off. I then decided to hit the gym and I trained every body part for at least an hour and noticed my condition coming back a bit. I am now taking Humira Injection which is injected every 10 days. When the injection and methatrexate fall on the same day I blow up even more. So all this means that I need to work out dates and doses and a good plan of action that might help me get up on stage. I have not competed during summer before so that also will be interesting. And of course it is a very social time over the next month so starting the competition diet on Monday will be a challenge on its own. The other change / challenge will be possibly moving house and gym to new location. This hopefully may happen at the end of January. This could all work in my favour though as I will be so busy that I won’t be thinking about food all the time. As for the Christmas Cake, well I cut into it early and have had my share and I must say it is very very yummy. The Arthritis is still playing up and seems to be focused on my thumbs which is making holding the barbells and dumbbells a bit challenging. Training has been going real well and I am happy with the results I have achieved this year. My daughter has had her eyes checked and they both seem good so that in one way is great news, but also means that the blindness and blurriness that’s happening quite often probably has to do with what ever is happening in her head, with her seizures. The poor thing has come down with a nasty cold and had to go on antibiotics to get rid of it. Both children are very excited about Christmas Eve which is tonight…….I am too, I love Christmas time. My Christmas day will be spent between 2 family homes and should be a lovely time. With the children home from school I am finding it harder to do my website work which is why it has taking so long to update this week. Most of my clients are still training hard with the odd few taking a week off over Christmas because of having to work longer hours etc. My updates for the next 11 weeks will be following my progress as I head towards my first comp for 2012. I am very grateful to have survived 2011 and proud of all the important things that I have managed to face. I am positive that 2012 will be a fantastic year. To anyone who lives in Christchurch and reads this blog, my heart goes out to you. You are amazing people to live through those earthquakes and still try to carry on. May 2012 be full of only good things. Merry Christmas to you all and A Happy New Year. |
