Well who would of thought that a tore glute could hurt so much. I was training a client on Monday morning and was demonstrating reverse lunges. As we can train out on my Studios own priivate deck we were enjoying the beautiful sunshine. The exercise step we were using slipped on the deck and I pulled my left glute. OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! I had clients booked in one after the other all day so just had to keep moving. This probably worked in my favour and made me keep moving. After the last client left at 7.30pm I popped painkillers and rubbed lots of deep heat into it. My kids had to help me get my shoes and pants off as I couldnt bend down. Sitting on the loo or in the car driving hurt like a B*t#h!!!!! So it is now Thursday, 16 days away from the competition I am aiming for . On Tuesday when I got up I thought that 16 days was a good enough time for it to heal so sent off my entry form. The workouts have had to be modified. I am used to doing this when the arthritis pain hits my joints.....there is always a muscle group that you can train, and if all else fails do abs. Hamstrings are off the menu which pisses me off as they are my favourite muscle group to train and I like to hammer them hard before a comp to help with preparation. Any exercise where I have to sit down to perform has had to be modified. The first was my cardio which I usually do on the exercycle. Because I cant sit I have had to try and do it on the stepper. If I concentrate I can make sure that the quads are doing a lot of the work. It is much harder cardio on the stepper though so not liking it much with hardly any carbs in my body. Managing to do leg extensions as long as I am careful getting in and out of the machines. Even my situps had to be modified as the left cheek hurts so much when it comes in contact with Absolutely Anything. Ha ha ha ha you got to laugh though, I am walking like I have pooped my pants. Got my pants leg caught on the mat at the doorway of Ben's classroom, Couldnt bend down to unhook it. All my sons friends were laughing at me and asking Ben "whats wrong with ya mum?" Ben said "shes got a sore bum and cant bend down". It took alot of bribing to get them to unhook my pants so I could hobble back to the car. The children have had their own challenges at school. They have their triathlon and this has made Eva very upset and nervous. She has worked herself up into a right state. She is so scared about running and riding infront of the other children as they laugh at her. Her teacher is amazing and he and I are trying to put the focus on just joining in and giving it a go. Poor little thing we got to school today and she took her togs, scooter and was all worked up to run and they postponed it............she was so annoyed and pale and abit lost. Worst of all she has to build herself up again on the 8th March. We finally got back in to the hospital physio and she thought Eva's progress was great. All the exercises I do with her are paying off, hooray!! She has had to increase her medication again this week to try and control her seizures so I am watching her closely for side effects. My sore butt is nothing compared to what Eva goes through each and every day. Nothing short of amazing. My son Ben is also doing well. Last year he would get himself all worked about cross country and the production so I didnt quite know how he would go with the triathlon either. But he has made me so proud. They have also had walk to school week which he was keen to do. To get to school he has to walk up a big hill. I would conviently be still getting Eva out of the car outside the school when he finally made it to the top and the poor bugger had asthma attacks every time, but he still done it each day. Talk about determination. Must get it from their Mother! |
