My Experience at NABBA I can never really sleep the night before a competition. So no surprises when I lay awake on Friday night. At 3am my daughter got up as she wasnt feeling well. After tucking her back in bed I lay there thinking about what I had to get done and was more awake than ever so at 4.30am I got up. I had a small black coffee and some carbs then started to get ready with make up etc. At 5.30am my daughter had a seizure so I was transported back to Mummy land to cope with that situation. |

I Made It Well it has been a different journey for me this competition. Lots of different life stresses outside of the training have made it very challenging to stay focused. It is now the Friday before the competition. I am all tanned up and ready to roll. I am finally excited and my major goal now is to have fun and enjoy every moment. Even though there is some upset in my life right now the miracle or silver lining is that I have been pain free again (apart from the glute injury) for the last week. |

Last Week, only days away from my first ever Nabba Competition Monday = day one of de-carb (warning:there may be lots of spelling mistakes in this due to de-carbed brain) Everything is kind of going to plan. I have had a major piece of not so good news but trying not to let that affect my last week preparation. Received this news on Thursday night and I must admit that I threw it all away for the night. I was so stressed and pissed off. But I woke up the next morning and thought, well this person doing this is not going to ruin the weeks of hard work that I have already done. |

10 Days to Go Just over a week ago I injured my left glute badly. I have been limited to how much I can train my legs and my fat burning has had to be performed on my stepper which is a killer of a machine. I nicknamed it the glutinator and funny enough it is just about the only exercise I can do that doesn’t hurt my glute. Sitting is the hardest and it is hard to get through your day without sitting. Driving anywhere you have to sit in the car, watch TV sitting down usually, if I lay down I fall asleep. |

Well who would of thought that a tore glute could hurt so much. I was training a client on Monday morning and was demonstrating reverse lunges. As we can train out on my Studios own priivate deck we were enjoying the beautiful sunshine. The exercise step we were using slipped on the deck and I pulled my left glute. OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! I had clients booked in one after the other all day so just had to keep moving. This probably worked in my favour and made me keep moving. After the last client left at 7. |

3 Weeks out from Competing and I really don’t know if I will make it. It is feeling like it will be a mad rush to the finish line. This buying a house event has been so very stressful and the little things that should have gone smoothly have all gone wrong which has added to the stress. I only had to move 2 blocks so it all started out well, then the phone took ages to set up which effected email and internet and then the hot water which is heated by gas wasn’t connected when we wanted it to be. |

5 Weeks Out From NABBA Taranaki Bodybuilding Champs 2012 Living amongst boxes is not much fun. We feel like the rooms are closing in on us now. So today is Sunday, Monday is a holiday so that will leave 4 working days for kiwi saver to get their shit together. If they don’t……well I will be living in a motel! The moving truck is all booked for Monday the 13 at 9am; everything is in place, everything but kiwi saver. This is very stressful, and it has ruined the excitement of buying a home and it is ruining the excitement of competing. |

6 Weeks out from NABBA First Ever Taranaki Champs My Mo-Jo is still nowhere to be seen, some days I think I have found it only to be disappointed by the afternoon. Over the years of competing or aiming for different goals I have learnt that even if your mo-jo skips the country you just need to keep moving forward. This week I have taken 1 hour at a time. Life at my house is pretty stressful at the moment and it has got a lot to do with the government and kiwi saver. For the last 6 weeks I have been trying to buy my first home. |

My Disappearing Mo-Jo 7 Weeks Out from Competition What a challenging week! My Stress took control over my calmness which in turn made my mo-jo leave the building. Unfortunately it hasn’t been seen since! The stress had been growing with the worry about my little girl who is just not well. The seizure medication that she is on doesn’t seem to be helping and she has been sick since the start of the school holidays. She is now on her second batch of antibiotics and had a whole lot of bloods taken this week. |

Competition Countdown Week 3 Glad to be through last week, it got a little tough around Friday and Saturday. Had my Humira injection on Thursday and because the main side effect is that it grows infection, the bug that I was almost over flared up big time. My throat was so sore and my body started to feel real fluey. By Saturday everything was so hard to do. I managed my cardio all wrapped up with vicks vapour rub all round my neck, and then I had to do shoulders and abs. Well this was the most un-enjoyable work-out! |
